LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. re-enacted the signing of Presidential Decree No. 27, also known as the Tenants Emancipation Decree, originally signed by his late father, President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., on October 21, 1972.
On Friday, July 7, 2023, Marcos Jr. signed the New Agrarian Emancipation Act, which provides condonation for all loans, including interests, penalties, and surcharges, accrued by Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) from the land awarded to them.
Among the witnesses of the ceremonial signing were two farmers from Candaba namely Felino Guevarra Estacio of Barangay Mandasig, and Matias Mangilit Jr. of Barangay Pasig.
Estacio and Mangilit were also present when Marcos Sr. signed his version of the decree over 50 years ago.
The two Kapampangan farmers were accompanied by Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque during the activity. | via PNA, Princess Clea Arcellaz
